Bedrock Materials Announces Award of $150,000 CalSEED Grant

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 13, 2023 — Bedrock Materials, Inc. (“Bedrock”), a leading innovator in the production of sodium-ion battery materials, announced that it has been selected to receive a grant of $150,000 under the California Sustainable Energy Entrepreneur Development (CalSEED) program. The company was among 27 companies selected from 153 applicants.

Commenting on the development, CTO Rafael Vila said, “We’re proud to work with the CalSEED team and the Energy Commission to demonstrate sodium-ion battery technology that we believe can benefit ratepayers in the storage and use of sustainable energy. We look forward to deploying these funds to create jobs and develop technology in the State of California.”

In total, $4 million of CalSEED funds will be deployed into clean energy innovations throughout California.

CalSEED is funded by the California Energy Commission’s EPIC (Electric Program Investment Charge) program, which awards $120M annually for clean technologies that benefit California ratepayers. It is administered by New Energy Nexus, the world’s leading ecosystem of funds and accelerators that support diverse clean energy entrepreneurship.
